Indian Gooseberry – What It Can Cure And Why

Indian Gooseberry also known by the Indian name Amla has been widely used as an Ayurvedic Medicine for over centuries now. It is especially used to treat people with Pitta dosha. The fruit is a powerful immunity booster and shields the body from various ailments because of its rich nutritional composition.


WHAT CAN IT CURE AND WHY

1.Cancer: It has some possible activity against a few types of cancers. Indian gooseberry contains antiviral, antioxidant, antimicrobial and anticancer properties. Studies have shown that the fruit can save us from cervical, liver, lung and oral cancers. Indian gooseberry contains phytochemicals like emblicanin A. Emblicanin is one of the best free radical killing antioxidants. After deactivating a free radical emblicanin A gets transformed into emblicanin B. Emblicanin B also attacks free radicals and transforms them into Emblicanin oligomers.


2.Cholesterol: Early research showed that Indian gooseberry reduces bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) and keeps the good cholesterol intact. This fruit improves the strength and the functioning of the heart muscles.


3.Osteoclasts: Indian gooseberry extracts slow cell death and alters gene expression in osteoclasts. Osteoclasts are occupied in bone loss in osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis.


4.Pancreatitis: One animal study showed that Indian gooseberry decreases the severity of acute pancreatitis. It also boosts the repairing and regenerating procedures of the pancreas after an attack.  Having this fruit empty stomach de-toxifies the human body from all harmful substances.


5.Diabetes: A research study conducted on diabetic rats as against the non-diabetic ones proved that the fruit extracts reduces the blood glucose levels and increases the level of insulin. The fruit can also retrieve the activity of the liver. Indian gooseberry tea improves diabetic neuropathy by slowing the activity of aldose reductase.


6.Sperm Count and Vaginal Discharge: Indian Gooseberry promotes sperm growth. Dried seeds mixed with honey decreases vaginal discharge in women.
