Recommended Food and Diet for People With Acne Problems


Acne is so prevalent today that almost 85% of teenagers suffer from this issue. It leads to loss of confidence apart from itchiness, pain and swelling in the affected area. Foods experts say that the major cause of acne is hormonal imbalance. Some of the natural foods do play a major role in re-storing this imbalance. There is a myth that diet and certain food items cause acne. However, this is not true. In fact it is very important to have a balanced diet for a beautiful glowing skin. A beautiful glowing skin is no doubt a sign of a balanced healthy body.


There are certain food items that can aggravate acne but these do not majorly cause them. However, it is suggested that one should limit the consumption of salt and oily foods. Sometimes lack of sleep, excessive smoking and alcoholism, lack of physical exercise also trigger and increase acne.


Importance of Diet:

Increase the intake of foods rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A, B6, water, and zinc.

Why Vitamin C and Vitamin A: These foods reduce the production of sebum in the body. Few examples of recommended foods are Apricot, oranges, lemons, melons, kiwi, Asparagus, Broccoli, Carrot, Mango, Pumpkin, Red bell peppers, guava, Spinach and Sweet potato.

Why B6: Foods which are rich in vitamin B6 regulate the hormones of the body.


Recommended foods are avocados, banana, lentils, meat, eggs, beans, dry fruits and spinach.


Why water: Foods which are rich in water detoxifies the body and removes the harmful toxins which contribute towards the formation of acne. Foods rich in water are Broccoli Lettuce, Oranges, Strawberry, Tomato, Watermelon, Carrots, Celery, Cucumber, and Grapefruit.


Why zinc: Zinc promotes the level of healthy hormones. Zinc promotes healing and improves the health of the skin. Foods rich in zinc are grains, milk, Asparagus, Broccoli, cauliflower, Mushrooms, Oats, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, Soybean, Spinach, Sunflower seeds and Wheatgrass.


It is suggested that one should avoid the intake of drugs and supplements as these might worsen the situation. It is best to treat acne naturally by purifying the body internally. Take the above foods in limited quantity as excessive intake can lead to allergies, if you are prone to any.
