Most people often want to reduce the intake of fatty foods to avoid getting obese. However, there is one type of fat that should be taken at regular intervals. It is commonly referred to as Omega 3. Omega 3 is a fatty acid that has a plethora of health benefits. Most people, however, fail to consume Omega 3 in the proper amount and expose themselves to Omega 3 related deficiencies.
Omega 3 is one of the most essential nutrients that your body needs. It is made up of two major acids: EPA and DHA. A recent study by Italian scientists indicated that Omega 3 is very useful in reducing the risk of heart attacks. Basically, Omega 3 keeps your cholesterol triglyceride levels under control which results in significantly reduced risks of cardiac arrests. Omega 3 is generally available in oil form and can be directly rubbed onto swollen joints to reduce the pain caused due to arthritis. Omega 3 is also helpful to some extent in cases of Alzheimer's and asthma.
DHA is directly associated with the learning ability and concentration level of children. A study found that students who had ADHD (hyperactivity disorder) were more likely to be low on Omega 3. This led to the conclusion that more of DHA and EPA are needed in order to maximize a student’s learning potential. EPA and DHA also keep the dopamine levels high, increase neural growth and promote cerebral circulation. All of these have a direct effect on the learning ability of children.
