Which Oil is the Best When it Comes to High Heat cooking?
Smoke point is referred to as that temperature where an oil loses its chemical structure and nutritional value. Oils which have a high smoke point should be used for high heat cooking and deep frying. Vegetables oils like sunflower and mustard have higher smoke points than olive oil and butter. Every individual oil has its own pros and con so it’s up to the user to decide which one to go for. Below are five oils with the highest smoke points.
Avocado oil (510°F degrees): Avocado oil is derived from the avocado fruit which contains essential nutrients, anti-inflammatory properties, vitamin E, vitamin C, and fatty acids. It keeps the liver healthy as it contains glutathione which removes toxins from the organs and keep the skin moisturized. It improves eyesight, regulates blood sugar levels and kills cancerous cells. Avocado oil reduces the risk of heart disease but is one of the most expensive in its category.
Almond oil (490°F degree): Almond oil which is made from almonds contains proteins, fiber, potassium, copper, magnesium and vitamin E. It is cholesterol free. Research also tells that re-using oils lowers its smoke point. The smoke point of oils does not remain constant and lower down even more when re-used. This means the fresher oil, the higher its smoke point. One simple test is that the lighter the color, the higher is the smoke point of the oil.
